Kerry Riches, is one of the most memorable housemates from the latest series of Big Brother on ITV. From her mobility scooter entrance to back door Halloween exit and everything in between, Kerry became an iconic standout contestant.
Kerry, who has multiple sclerosis, is a bubbly, and fun character and doesn't let her disability bring her down. Infact, she says her disability is her superpower and she is passionate about raising awareness and motivating people to achieve their dreams whatever challenges they are faced with.
Kerry was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at just 25, and 7 years ago she was also diagnosed with a benign brain tumor (prolactinoma), which is controlled by daily medication. Kerry wants to use her new platform to inspire people living with disabilities and to help give them more confidence. Since leaving Big Brother Kerry has received tens of thousands of support messages as well as questions from people living with disabilities wanting advice from her.
Kerry said: "I know first hand what it is like living with a disability but this shouldn't hold people back and I just want to help people come to terms with their illnesses and show them anything is possible. Yes there are a whole host of challenges in life in restaurants, public transport and on airplanes etc for those with disabilities which I would like to help eradicate by working with companies and brands and showing them from my own experience how they can make life easier and create better access etc. I just want to shine a light on disability and help inspire people to achieve their goals whatever the challenges."
Since leaving the house, Kerry has been in big demand. Her projects include:
Filming a primetime documentary about accessibility; appearing across TV and Media; working with the MS Society; presenting awards at the prestigious Gaydio Pride Awards next month; being special guest at the London's New Year's Day Parade broadcasted to 500 million people across the globe; working with leading fashion brand Yours with many other leading brand deals lined up.
